PURSUIT. Should you choose sperm freezing & storage for future fertility? Inside the LIV Fertility Center in Puerto Vallarta, reproductive specialists provide a comprehensive approach in treating a broad range of infertility disorders. Fertility preservation is a proactive way to ensure the possibility of future pregnancy.
Use of frozen sperm for future pregnancy attempts usually requires the use of assisted reproductive technologies such as Intrauterine Insemination or In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Mexico.
The LIV Fertility Center offers sperm freezing options for men who have been diagnosed with cancer, for military personnel prior to deployment, and for patients pursuing fertility treatment at our center in Mexico.
How Is Semen Preserved?
A complete semen analysis is performed. The sample is split into several small vials and placed into an instrument that cools the specimen at a controlled rate until it reaches a temperature of -196°C. In this frozen state, the specimens are stored in liquid nitrogen tanks. The number of vials that are cryopreserved will vary depending of the volume of the ejaculate and the number of sperm in the specimen.
It is recommended that at least three to five semen specimens be stored to optimize the chances of initiating a pregnancy in the future.
